Expect a lot more productivity in the near future! I’m going to try to get an update done and some prints ready for Bronycon, along with some other professional work that’s required ASAP for production for around that date. Unfortunately, this means I need to set the donation doodles I haven’t gotten to yet on the back burner.
I WILL, however, be working on them when I can find time, and if I can’t until the con, I will definitely finish them after it.
Yep, I’m fully aware of the waiting list scandals. I’ve been a victim of it myself, waiting on average between two to six months between calling in to schedule and actually getting in for an appointment.
I’ve been fast-tracked likely because of the situation with the VA. Unfortunately, this shorter waiting list time does not mean that the quality of care has increased. For example, I requested full arm x-rays for my arm damage from my injury in the Navy - where my every joint in my entire arm was dislocated from shoulder to fingers due to dropping a 200+ lb bag whose rope wrapped around my hand before falling two stories - and only got a scan of my wrist. I will address that later, but progress is progress.
At least things are starting to move, and I can only hope that how the VA handles outside consultations and appointment times improves, so we lose less of our nation’s heroes and give them the health services that they were both promised and deserve.
I just received a letter from the Veteran’s Affairs hospital. After nearly two years, they finally have me scheduled for a surgical evaluation for my carpal tunnel syndrome.
This doesn’t mean that they’ll actually do it, but it’s a step in the right direction.
Floofy pones are best pones. I like the thought that they’re living, breathing things, and that they’re far more cuddly and fluffy than plastic. :)
Yes, and I am totally okay with that. I should have a doodles for donations stream up soon, which’ll be a pay what you want thing. ;)
So far I’ve gotten some wonderful responses as what I should do for this artbook, and have decided on a few things.
Yes, we’re going to go for furry cheesecake ladies. Pony characters will be included, along with an Orca and Godzilla. Additionally, there will be a short comic, to break things up a bit.
For the first images, which I’ll be also selling as prints at Bronycon, I’ll be doing Fluttershy and Luna in a Rococo style, specifically Jean-Honoré Fragonard's “Les Hasards Heureux de l’Escarpolette”, as well as a Twilight done in a Baroque style inspired by Carvaggio. They’re a bit ambitious, but I think they’d be great pieces for an artbook, along with simpler, more cheesecake-like images.
Also, I figure the best way to get this thing out there would be in .pdf format instead of hardbound/softbound, with a pay-what-you-want format. It would still work as a book in the layout format, and possibly print copies later on in the future, but in PDF to start.
What do you all think?
My carpal tunnel syndrome’s been getting worse and worse lately, and so in order to earn money to pay for surgery, I’d like to do an art book. I’m thinking some cute furry girls in skimpy clothes. I’ve tried getting loans, and my insurance won’t cover it, so I’ve got to go to other means to earn the cash. ^_^;;
The thing is, I don’t want to do straight up donations. That doesn’t sit right with me. I’d like to give people something back for their donations, which is why the artbook.
Do you have any suggestions for what I might do for content?
Swiss artist and creator of the iconic movie monsters of Ridley Scotts Alien, has died
Goodbye and fair sailing. You were an inspiration to many artists, and helped forge an age in film. You will be greatly missed.
Thank you all so far for all the work and help this past month. It has helped immeasurably. Not only were we able to pay our bills, but we also were able to get groceries too!
I’m going to be working on getting my commissions list cleared out, then it’ll be updates for a while. I’ve already got one in the works, and I can’t wait to get back to it! I’m also moving to a comic page format, so updates may take a little longer than usual, but will contain a lot more of the story!
See you shortly, when I start up a stream for one of the commissions!
