advent-of-mechanus asked: Should we be very excited? I know i am.

If I told you, you might guess something.  X3

You’ll have to wait until the press release.  :P

askangelgrace asked: Good to see you're still around, Stalky. I love your work.

Yeah, still around, just a bit busy with college and work.  That and I’m sending my tablet in for repairs soon, and getting ready to get married… and getting a new apartment…  Life’s a bit hectic at the moment, too hectic for updates.  X3

There is no true “Anonymous ask.”  If you look at Tumblr’s privacy policy, all anonymous questions are logged along with the ip and mac address of the users asking them.

While you may be anonymous to the person you’re asking the question to, you’re not anonymous to tumblr admins.  If you should find yourself being abused by people using anon questions, please screencap them or get a permalink to the material they’re submitting (it also works for that too) and email them to abuse@tumblr.com

So if you’ve got trolls, if you’re having people harass you, just screencap and email it to abuse@tumblr.com.  Don’t just ignore it.  Put a stop to it.

mcweaksauce asked: I'd like to comment on the color-blindedness with a short testimony. I am tone-deaf, but I played French Horn. That requires a lot of tone hearing and adaptation to pitch based on individual notes. I compensated by memorizing hand placements and constant tuning and became fairly competent. Point is, many traits can be overcome (Beethoven's deafness the classic example), and you have done exceptionally well with your visual handicap. Also, your art is good. Take care!

Hehe, thank you very much!  It just proves that if you want it and you don’t let anything stop you, anything you want is within your reach.

samanthastrongheart asked: how did this all start?

The whole DJ thing or the whole school thing?

School started because I decided I was going to get a design degree…  Thaaat’s pretty much all that’s behind that.

The whole DJ thing -  I’ve had a fascination with Djing ever since I played Jet Set Radio.  I think it’s because of that I decided one year that I’d do my very first cosplay at AnimeFest.  I had decided I’d go as Dj-Pon3, and figured that I’d do something silly and get real turntables and a real audio system to go along with the costume.  I picked up a set of Numark Mixtrack turntables and gave mixing a shot while I was a the con.

It went over horribly.   I decided that I’d never cosplay again, but I still had the turntables, so I started fiddling around with them for fun.  I did that a lot, then started doing sets online on livestream.  Eventually, I lost that account because I got reported for streaming films, so I had to make a new unverified account.  I decided I’d do a big set on Halloween, so I figured, hey, I can only have 50 people in here at most, and there’ll be more than that at the halloween event.  I started looking around, and a DJ friend of mine suggested I try mixify, since it didn’t have a listener cap and I could do direct audio streams there.

Little did I know that there was a DJ competition going on.  Seriously.  I had no idea.  I was just there for the lack of a listener cap.  Turns out that I drew more people in one day than most could draw in that full week it was going on, and I was absolutely shocked to receive an email stating that I had won a spot in a concert that Mixify was hosting with some pretty big names, including a lot of people I really admire and  look up to.  How could I refuse?

I agonized for days over the setlist and planning, then sweated bullets when the day of the concert came.  I was freaking out so bad because of stagefright, and I did mess up a lot during the set, but nobody seemed to notice.  I met some really awesome DJs there and got some good pointers, and I learned quite a bit from it.  I do still have a lot to learn, though.  X3  Either way, the set got a surprising number of good reviews, especially for a DJ nobody that no one had ever heard about.  I still kinda feel undeserving that I even got the spot, but people seemed to like it, so I can’t really complain.

So, one of my friends who just moved to Hawaii began scouting for jobs and stuff, and heard through her contact network that there were club owners there that had heard of me because of the mixify set and wanted me to play for them, real gigs and the like.  That’s pretty much where it is so far, but now I’m all freaking out because I’ve got so much I need to learn and I need to practice so bad and I need new tracks and to practice with those and learn beatslicing and proper turntablism and crossfader tricks aoidsjgknaskjdgjodksflm

In short, it was a silly hobby that’s sorta gone further than I ever expected it to.  Kinda like my art.  I don’t think I’m all that great at either, honestly, but people keep saying otherwise.  They might just be patronizing me, though, since I’m partially colorblind.  I can never tell.  I always worry about that…

Oh god wat

aphexangel:

Apparently I got heard about on Mixify, and someone wants me to DJ at their club.  Having my friend there look into it to see if it’s a good club or not (I dun wanna do a strip joint).

We’ll see how this plays out.

If you see me do a lot of DJ streams, this is why.

That and because I’m sending in my tablet for repairs.  :3

Well, and because I need to work up a setlist for my wedding and teach a friend of mine how to operate the decks (he’s not used to physical controllers).  That and because teaching people to DJ is actually really fun, and so is playing music.  X3

Protip : Cintiq 12WX tablets, while described as “portable” by wacom, are anything but.  Put that tablet in your backpack and the pressure put on the cord will cause shorts, much like with the tablets the cintiq 12wx is based off of - the intuos 3 series.

Stalkerloo may be coming back in the next month or so, but that also depends on how much I have to do for school and work.  I’ve got a particularly heavy layout class, german II and gaming exploration courses, on top of another portfolio review.  I’ve got to redo about two years worth of work and make sure I pass this one, or I don’t get to progress in my degree.  I’m also working on getting a job in Hawaii before I move.  Real world problems: they trump drawing comics for free.

ask-ninjaderpy asked: are you still alive?

I’m on a brief hiatus.

There will be an explanation as to why in the near future.

9 Jan 2013

Hehe, awesommmmmmmmmme.  X3

Totally done that before.
