Going to go off to be alone for a bit. No new streams for a day or two. 4th of July hit me a lot harder than I thought. I thought the medication would help, but I can’t shake this all-encompassing depression.
The fireworks outside my house were too similar to the sound of gunfire. I kept flashing back to seeing friends die over and over and over again, those horrible moments on repeat with perfect clarity. Time hasn’t made it better, if anything it’s made it worse. I can still see where I was. I can still smell the blood and gunpowder. I remember why I tried to drink for three years to forget.
Nothing against those who enjoyed the fireworks. I fought for the right for people to enjoy those. The sounds just bring back too many hard memories for me, memories I can’t bear. I’m not angry at anyone, I don’t want anyone giving anyone grief for how they celebrate. Just remember us - those of us who served our country, lost friends, suffer from PTSD for it. The war never ends for us. Please be kind.
Getting a cortisone shot this Friday for my Carpal Tunnel Syndrome!
Expect a lot more productivity in the near future! I’m going to try to get an update done and some prints ready for Bronycon, along with some other professional work that’s required ASAP for production for around that date. Unfortunately, this means I need to set the donation doodles I haven’t gotten to yet on the back burner.
I WILL, however, be working on them when I can find time, and if I can’t until the con, I will definitely finish them after it.
Yep, I’m fully aware of the waiting list scandals. I’ve been a victim of it myself, waiting on average between two to six months between calling in to schedule and actually getting in for an appointment.
I’ve been fast-tracked likely because of the situation with the VA. Unfortunately, this shorter waiting list time does not mean that the quality of care has increased. For example, I requested full arm x-rays for my arm damage from my injury in the Navy - where my every joint in my entire arm was dislocated from shoulder to fingers due to dropping a 200+ lb bag whose rope wrapped around my hand before falling two stories - and only got a scan of my wrist. I will address that later, but progress is progress.
At least things are starting to move, and I can only hope that how the VA handles outside consultations and appointment times improves, so we lose less of our nation’s heroes and give them the health services that they were both promised and deserve.
So far I’ve gotten some wonderful responses as what I should do for this artbook, and have decided on a few things.
Yes, we’re going to go for furry cheesecake ladies. Pony characters will be included, along with an Orca and Godzilla. Additionally, there will be a short comic, to break things up a bit.
For the first images, which I’ll be also selling as prints at Bronycon, I’ll be doing Fluttershy and Luna in a Rococo style, specifically Jean-Honoré Fragonard's “Les Hasards Heureux de l’Escarpolette”, as well as a Twilight done in a Baroque style inspired by Carvaggio. They’re a bit ambitious, but I think they’d be great pieces for an artbook, along with simpler, more cheesecake-like images.
Also, I figure the best way to get this thing out there would be in .pdf format instead of hardbound/softbound, with a pay-what-you-want format. It would still work as a book in the layout format, and possibly print copies later on in the future, but in PDF to start.
My carpal tunnel syndrome’s been getting worse and worse lately, and so in order to earn money to pay for surgery, I’d like to do an art book. I’m thinking some cute furry girls in skimpy clothes. I’ve tried getting loans, and my insurance won’t cover it, so I’ve got to go to other means to earn the cash. ^_^;;
The thing is, I don’t want to do straight up donations. That doesn’t sit right with me. I’d like to give people something back for their donations, which is why the artbook.
Do you have any suggestions for what I might do for content?
Thank you all so far for all the work and help this past month. It has helped immeasurably. Not only were we able to pay our bills, but we also were able to get groceries too!
I’m going to be working on getting my commissions list cleared out, then it’ll be updates for a while. I’ve already got one in the works, and I can’t wait to get back to it! I’m also moving to a comic page format, so updates may take a little longer than usual, but will contain a lot more of the story!
See you shortly, when I start up a stream for one of the commissions!
Twilight stop lieing, I know Scootaloo's mother Firefly 3rd her job tha she won't say. Everypony knows her. Her father works in the military tha way he's never around Princess Celestra says he has a special mission. Nopony knows nothin about him. NOw I want to know wat is tha special mission is?
Thank you for the question, but I’m afraid you have a different head-canon than mine, and that’s okay. Here’s some of my reasoning for how I’ve written the characters so far.
Scootaloo’s parents have not been confirmed by show staff or writers up to this point. While I am taking the characters and world in a different direction that the original writers did not intend, it is heavily based on the original storyline and worldbuilding that Hasbro/DHX has done. I have added a little of my own, in regards to Changeling behavior, cryptozoology, and physiongomy, but otherwise my intentions in the blog have been to make logical extrapolations of possible behavioral shifts in characters. For example, Twilight’s need to monitor the world was based off of S2 E1 as well as the entire Wedding arc. Fluttershy’s usage of antianxyalitics (and subsequent overdose) were based off of extrapolations on her behaviors and cofirmed when the character mentioned that she had social anxiety. This is coupled with my own experiences of being on antianxyalitics and accidental overdose. Scootaloo’s stalking behavior is based off of her apparent need for affection, with Rainbow Dash as a surrogate sister in her mind. This is exacerbated by Twilight needing someone small and athletic that can put recording devices in unexpected and covert areas. Again, as of yet, Scootaloo’s parents have not been introduced nor their occupations made known. I have taken the liberty of creating my own head-canon, much like you have your own, though mine gives a nod to popular culture rather than recycling old characters, which is more in keeping with the writing styles of the show authors, along with tying them in with existing episodes, though not in a directly visible manner. In this same vein, we may see rise of a radio station with odd broadcasts, hosted by a character named Cecil who is very close friends with a pony named Carlos, who is a scientist. Who knows. I’ve also taken the liberty of adding in new characters that do not and could not exist within the constraints of family-friendly TV censors, because their story arc would be determined as “too frightening” and how I plan on rendering some of the art as “shocking” to children. They are there to keep the story fresh and away from being centered on one character specifically, as well as to expand and explore world lore from a firsthand experience.
There is reasoning beyond this as to why I did not make Scootaloo’s parents special forces, military, sneaky, etc. This will become apparent near the end of the blog’s current story arc. I apologize for the slow update speed, but I have a lot of projects going on as well as college classes. Just please be patient - the story is going to continue until the end. I have no intents of dropping it until it is finished.
